5 window treatment alternatives

1. In the kitchen, dress the windowsill with two or three small plants or pots of herbs and let the light come in.

2. In the bathroom, use magnetic window films for intimacy. I have a thing for Light Effects’ Etched lace and it is available at The Home Depot.
3. In the bedroom, try wooden window shutters. They are very chic, add warmth to the room and are oh so easy to wipe clean!

4. In the living room, try honeycomb or cellular shades for energy efficiency or, for a great look that people will talk about, try natural woven shades the same color as your window frame.

5. For the patio door, go with fabric panes on rails that can be easily moved from one side to another. Many fabulous styles are available at IKEA at a great price.
